YES. Though, Kerala is a conservative state, it is generally relaxed towards tourists clothing. Clothing worn by Keralites varies slightly from region to region.
Men frequently wear little more than a broadcloth dhoti (a simple white garment wrapped around the legs), worn as a loose loincloth. The more affluent and urban dwellers generally are more inclined to wear tailored clothing, including various types of trousers, jackets, and vests.
Most women wear a saris (a straight piece of cloth draped around the body as a long dress) and short blouses. Many of the women in urban areas wear pyjamas (full trousers) with a long blouse and a veil. Western style of clothing, like jeans and T-shirts are gaining popularity. |

As Thekkady (Periyar) & Munnar are located at high altitudes, these places have a very cool and pleasant climate. Hence, air conditioning is not required at these places. |

Houseboat is reserved on exclusive basis only and not on shared basis. |

|
NO. Floating cottages are cottages that though built over a floating deck on the backwaters, are actually anchored firmly to the mainland. However, houseboats are giant country boats, with one or two bedrooms, that cruise in the backwaters. |

|
The houseboat crew takes utmost care to meet the needs of the tourists. They have also been given special training in first aid and life saving techniques, if any emergency arises. Hence, houseboat stay is absolutely safe. |

NO. All of our houseboats do not have upperdecks. On your advance request, we could certainly arrange for a houseboat with an upperdeck. However, kindly note that none of the luxury houseboats will have an upperdeck. |

Normally, there would be 3 crew members in the houseboat, namely - A Captain, an oarsman, and a cook. |

Food safety depends a whole lot on the place you are having it. Non-vegetarian dishes served in good restaurants are absolutely safe. Take great care while having food from the street side stalls. Though the food might taste good, these places generally serve food of dubious quality. |

|
In tourist restaurants or hotels a 10% service charge is often added to your bill, in which case there is no need to offer a tip. As far as possible, avoid drinking any kind of water or juices from roadside carts and vendors. |
