3. What type of climate prevails in Kerala?

The diversity of the geographical features of the state has resulted in a corresponding diversity in the climate. The High Ranges have a cool and bracing climate throughout the year, while the plains are hot and humid. The state basically enjoys 4 types of climates such as winter, summer, South West monsoon and North East monsoon.

4. What time of the year is best to visit Kerala?

Kerala experiences pleasant weather throughout the year. However, the ideal time to visit Kerala would be in the months of October to March.

5. What is the normal temperature in Kerala?

-    During Summer (April-June) it is 26 - 33 degree Celsius
-    During Monsoon (July-September) it is 22 - 27 degree Celsius

Kerala is a paradise in itself; no wonder it is referred to as “God’s Own Country”. 8. I have heard Kerala is a very conservative state, hence what kind of clothes would be acceptable here?

YES. Though, Kerala is a conservative state, it is generally relaxed towards tourists clothing. Clothing worn by Keralites varies slightly from region to region.

Men frequently wear little more than a broadcloth dhoti (a simple white garment wrapped around the legs), worn as a loose loincloth. The more affluent and urban dwellers generally are more inclined to wear tailored clothing, including various types of trousers, jackets, and vests.

Most women wear a saris (a straight piece of cloth draped around the body as a long dress) and short blouses. Many of the women in urban areas wear pyjamas (full trousers) with a long blouse and a veil. Western style of clothing, like jeans and T-shirts are gaining popularity.

Almost all of our packages include pick up services from the nearest airport or the railway station.

14. Do you own hotels in each of the mentioned destinations?

NO. However, we have partnered with most of the renowned hotel & resorts in each of the destination serviced by us. We can arrange for a stay as per your specific requirements.

15. Can you arrange for stay packages to any of my preferred hotels mentioned in your list of hotels & resorts?

YES. We can arrange for stay packages to any of your preferred hotels mentioned in our list of hotels & resorts.

16. Can I custom design the holiday packages?

YES. You can surely custom design the holiday packages as per your preferences. Though you can customize any of the locations you want to visit, you will have to select the hotels & resorts featured in our hotel & resorts list only. For more information, please contact us.

17. Which all services can I reserve through your website?

Using the “Reservation” option available on our website, you can reserve tour packages, hotels, cars and homestays.

18. How can I reserve a particular package through the website?

Using the “Plan Your Trip” option, you can customize the holiday packages by specifying the locations you would like to visit and the type of transportation you require.

22. Do all the hotels & resorts and houseboats featured in your package have western toilets?

YES. All the hotels & resorts and houseboats featured in our tour packages have Western Toilets.

23. Do all the hotels & resorts featured in your package have bathtubs?

NO. Bathtub is not available at all the hotels & resorts featured in our packages. Though, at some of the hotels, the luxury rooms do have bathtubs.

24. Is air conditioning available at all the hotels & resorts and houseboats featured in the packages?

YES. Air conditioning is available at all the hotels & resorts featured in our website except at Thekkady (Periyar) & Munnar.

25. Why don’t you have air conditioning option available at all the hotels & resorts located at Thekkady (Periyar) & Munnar?

As Thekkady (Periyar) & Munnar are located at high altitudes, these places have a very cool and pleasant climate. Hence, air conditioning is not required at these places.

26. Is Houseboat rented on exclusive basis or shared with other tourists?

Houseboat is reserved on exclusive basis only and not on shared basis.

27. Are floating cottages and Houseboats the same?

NO. Floating cottages are cottages that though built over a floating deck on the backwaters, are actually anchored firmly to the mainland. However, houseboats are giant country boats, with one or two bedrooms, that cruise in the backwaters.

28. How safe are Houseboat stay?

The houseboat crew takes utmost care to meet the needs of the tourists. They have also been given special training in first aid and life saving techniques, if any emergency arises. Hence, houseboat stay is absolutely safe.

29. Do all your Houseboats have upperdecks?

NO. All of our houseboats do not have upperdecks. On your advance request, we could certainly arrange for a houseboat with an upperdeck. However, kindly note that none of the luxury houseboats will have an upperdeck.

30. Apart from the tourists, how many crew members will be there on the houseboat?

Normally, there would be 3 crew members in the houseboat, namely - A Captain, an oarsman, and a cook.

31. Do the Houseboats operate in Monsoon?

YES. The houseboats do operate during the monsoons. However, if it is pouring heavily, houseboat cruise will not be possible under any circumstances.

32. Do they serve vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes in the houseboats?

The food menu can be customized as per your preferences. If you are a pure vegetarian, we will make sure that only vegetarian dishes are served to you

33. Is vegetarian food available in Hotels/Resorts?

YES. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food is available at all of our listed hotels & resorts.

34. How safe is it to eat non-vegetarian food in Kerala?

Food safety depends a whole lot on the place you are having it. Non-vegetarian dishes served in good restaurants are absolutely safe. Take great care while having food from the street side stalls. Though the food might taste good, these places generally serve food of dubious quality.

35. How should I tip waiters at restaurants / hotels?

In tourist restaurants or hotels a 10% service charge is often added to your bill, in which case there is no need to offer a tip. In smaller places, where tipping is optional, you need to tip a few Indian rupees only, and not a percentage of your bill amount. It is customary to tip waiters, porters, guides and drivers.

36. How safe is the drinking water in Kerala?

If you are from a foreign country, you might find it difficult to accustom yourself to the drinking water available here. Hence, we advise that you pick up a bottle of mineral water, which is cheap and widely available, and usually provided in flasks in hotel rooms. Order the same when you are at a restaurant. As far as possible, avoid drinking any kind of water or juices from roadside carts and vendors.

38. Will I get a dedicated chauffeur driven car or will I get a shared car?

All of our listed tour packages are exclusive and not part of any group tours.

39. Will the dedicated chauffeur be able to speak in English or Hindi?

We have ensured that all our chauffeurs understand and speak either English or Hindi or both.

40. Will the car and the chauffeur remain the same till the end of our trip?

Generally, the car and the chauffeur will be at your disposal till the end of your trip. In some unforeseen cases, the car or the chauffeur might change.

YES. However, it would be best if you could send us an email (info@gokerala.in) with all your queries about any of our hotels or tour packages.

NO. For reserving kindly use our website’s “Reservation” option or send us an email at info@gokerala.in for reserving any of our hotel and tour packages.

45. Is your office open on Sundays?

NO. Our office premises will be closed on Sundays and public holidays. You can contact us on any of the working days from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 hrs and 17:30 hrs.

46. Can I get a mobile phone connection in India?

YES. By providing a photocopy of your identification details, you can get a mobile phone connection from most departmental stores and often from small roadside stores. The service provided by these private companies is at par with the best in the world.

47. Is there any fixed date for the packages?

NO. The packages are designed as per the arrival date of the tourist.

48. Are your packages inclusive of all expenses?

NO. Our packages include expenses that are necessary to operate our package requisites as mentioned on the website. All other personal and optional expenses are to be borne by the tourist.

49. Is sightseeing possible during the night at any of the destinations?

NO. After 17.00 hrs, sightseeing is not possible at any of our featured destinations.
